Frequently Asked Questions

Pick UV-resistant materials that withstand intense summer heat, such as reinforced plastic or crack-resistant ceramic. Make sure the pot has sufficient drainage holes and the right size for the plant's roots. Matkel planters are designed to stay stable and keep their colour in Riyadh and Jeddah's hot conditions.
Plastic is lighter, easier to move, and suitable for outdoor growing if it is sun-rated. Ceramic looks elegant but is heavier and can crack from impact or freezing. Choose plastic for large balcony planters and ceramic for indoor entrances or shaded areas in Riyadh.
Choose a pot with one or more holes in the bottom and a saucer underneath to collect excess water. In Saudi Arabia's climate, good drainage helps reduce salt build-up after repeated watering and prevents water from standing around the roots.
For small plants, choose 15 to 25 cm diameter pots. Medium plants do well in 30 to 45 cm sizes. For garden beds and walkways, use 50 cm planters or deeper ground containers. Leave enough soil space for roots without making the pot so large that it stays constantly wet.
Choose colour-fast planters made for strong sunlight to reduce peeling and fading. Clean them with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then dry them after watering. Matkel planters in coastal areas such as Dammam stay durable if checked each season and worn parts are replaced.
